Fulfilling the promise that competition will benefit Massachusetts drivers, Liberty Mutual today filed auto insurance rates that, on average, are 10.7 percent lower than its state-set rates from 2007, with some drivers seeing their premiums plummet 35 percent or more. The new rates, as well as new product benefits and new and enhanced discounts, if approved by the Division of Insurance, are effective April 1, 2008,

Ben Cousins missing in LA: report

The health and whereabouts of Ben Cousins remain a mystery after the dumped AFL star reportedly failed to check himself into a $US3,000 a day Malibu drug rehabilitation centre.

There are fears Cousins may have relapsed after landing in Los Angeles on Saturday.

The rehab facility, Summit Center, refused to say if Cousins fronted as scheduled on Monday morning for an expected month of treatment.

"We have no comment," a spokesperson for the rehab centre told AAP.

The Australian newspaper, quoting a source close to the centre, however, said Cousins had vanished.

"No one has any idea where he is," the source told the newspaper.

"He's got everyone freaking out because LA's not a good place to be out doing what he may be doing.

Take a break from tobacco

I am writing to invite Liberty County smokers and other tobacco users to join hundreds of other Montanans and thousands nationwide to take a break from tobacco on Thursday, November 15th. This day marks the 31st Anniversary of the Great American Smokeout, an annual day of action promoted by the American Cancer Society that challenges people to stop using tobacco, if only for one day, and raises awareness of the many effective ways to quit for good.Tobacco addiction is the single most preventable cause of death nationwide, killing substantially more people than illegal drug use, alcohol consumption, car accidents, fires, homicides, suicides and HIV/AIDS combined. Seventeen percent of Montana adults smoke, and thanks to the marketing tactics of the tobacco industry, more Montana children and young adults become addicted every day. This year I think Montanans who want to acknowledge the Great American Smokeout should think especially about secondhand smoke.

The dancer and the cop

The story of a Wendover police chief and his exotic dancer wife made national headlines. What really happened in the small Utah town?

WENDOVER, Utah -- Sylvia Tripp needed another pair of shoes. So, on a Wednesday night in mid-August, Wendover Police Chief Vaughn Tripp, 50, headed across town to the club where his 39-year-old wife performed as an exotic dancer.

Vaughn had been raised Mormon and, while no longer attending services every Sunday, remained a teetotaler. Sylvia was a German immigrant with blonde hair and a slender figure. She battled an addiction to pain pills in the aftermath of a car wreck. The Tripps had been married 16 years. Each brought one child to the union. Vaughn's friends and relatives were ambivalent about the match. "My son has a problem picking wives," said Tripp's mother, Gertrude, 78, the town's unofficial historian and a city council member.
